When I tested the S1 It was quick to locate our downstairs, which has linoleum flooring in the kitchen-diner and bathrooms, plus carpeting with a medium-pile and an area rug. It was capable of driving close to walls and even cross thresholds that are raised without issue. However it was a bit difficult traversing the stairs in one go. The S1 also did an excellent job of cleaning hard floors with its mop that moved effortlessly on its flat side against the floor, and then lifting itself when it reached carpet or rug.
The docking station on the S1 automatically empties its trash bin and replenishes its water tank on board with clean, ozonated water prior to each mopping session. The dock provides an extra-deep cleaning solution to the water. The S1's tank of water holds enough water for about twelve cleaning sessions before it has to be emptied, though this can vary based on how much you use the mop.
Like all 2-in-1 robots the S1 requires periodic maintenance to ensure it is operating efficiently. It is necessary to regularly wash out the tank that has been contaminated to prevent it from becoming blocked. Also, you'll need to clean your sensor and swivel wheel frequently to avoid them becoming blocked by dirt or dust. Overall the S1 requires less maintenance than other combos.
2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete
Ecovacs' all-in-one robotic vacuum and mop is a powerful solution to your cleaning needs. Dreame released the luxe X30 Ultra earlier this year and their new top-of-the-line robot mop and vacuum comes with more impressive features. It boasts fantastic cleaning results and hands-free maintenance, making it a clear contender for our best robot vacuum and mop list. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart detection and a larger side brush ensure that a thorough, customized clean is completed.
The X40 Ultra does an excellent job of vacuuming, removing large and small particles from hard floors as well as carpets. It was able to clean the dirtiest areas of our tests efficiently, avoiding pet hairs and other messes. The sweeping capabilities are augmented by a side brush that automatically swings out to tackle hard-to-reach corners, and an extendable mop pad that is placed along baseboards.

Even though it's not able to mop floors, the Q5 has some of the best mopping and vacuum performance we've seen from a robotic in this price range. It has a strong suction of 5500Pa and an automatic-empty system so you don't need to empty the bin manually every time. It also features a smart application that lets you choose the type of floor and schedule cleanings, as well as an automatic water tank refill and wash system to allow hands-free operation.
Its mops also impress with its 2700Pa capacity to tackle dirt and pet hair on carpets as well as hard floors. The Q5 was among the few robots we tested did not show issues with high-pile rugs and carpets. However, it did not pick up kitty-litter or cable tangles.
